Go west, young man

As I prepare to head off to Nashville for my second experience at ASAE & the Center's Annual Meeting, I'm eagerly looking forward to these things...

First and foremost, I'm "xtremely" excited about the CAE walk, when I'll walk across the stage with the December 2004 and May 2005 classes of CAEs. The walk is part of the State of the Association Industry in Extreme Focus session. Preparing for and passing the CAE exam pretty much consumed my life for 5 months in 2004 and 2005, so this event will, in some ways, mark the end of that journey. There's also a reception in honor of all the new CAEs following the walk, and you can bet it'll be one heck of a party!

And now that I'm a CAE, I'm curious to check out the education lineup that is exclusively for CAEs and the CAE lounge.

Next, I'm looking forward with great "xpectations" to the informal, unofficial association bloggercon, when we association industry bloggers will discuss the state of the association blog-o-clump. Just as a reminder, non-bloggers and those who are just curious about blogging are welcome at the bloggercon.

Finally, reconnecting with friends and colleagues, as well as making new connections, ranks high on my list of things I'm looking forward to. Introduce me to someone new, and I'll return the favor. Or, meet someone new before you even arrive in Nashville by using the IntroNetworks application.

Thanks, everyone, for your best wishes. Sue and I actually took the CAE exam in the same room with a rodent, (see http://caeexam.blogspot.com/2004/12/finished.html ) Looking forward to seeing you all in Nashville!

Congratulations Ben! I am a new CAE as well and looking forward to attending my third ASAE Annual Conference. I met some terrific people while studying for the CAE in DC in March, and hopefully will get to see them again at the ceremony. It's been a great experience and one I recommend to anyone considering becoming a CAE.

Ben, this is also my second ASAE annual conference and I will be walking the stage with you and the other new CAEs. Somehow, I feel so much smarter than this time last year. It is amazing how much I learned in that process (and made some new friends too!). If anyone out there is thinking about becoming a CAE, I highly recommend it. The ROI for you and your association is big!

Congratulations to you Ben and all the new CAE's!! I got my CAE 5 years ago and I am still as proud today as I was then.

I could not agree more with Ben. As a new CAE and first time attendee at the ASAE Annual Meeting I am looking forward to meeting lots of people and the learning/sharing experience. See you in Nashville!
