What do you call a group of association professionals?

Do you remember learning some of the special terms for groups of animals, like a pride of lions or a gaggle of geese? (I'm fond of "an exaltation of larks," myself.) I recently came across a list of ideas for similar terms that can be applied to people: a brace of orthodontists, a wedge of golfers.

Of course, that list made me think that we association professionals need a term of our own! I've come up with a few ideas, but I'd love to see yours too. I'll put my thoughts in a comment on this post; if you have ideas of your own, chime right in.

So here are my thoughts so far:

A mingle of association professionals
A synergy of association professionals

Acronym commenters, what other ideas do you have?

An acronym of association professionals
A committee of association professionals
A subcommittee of association professionals
A taskforceofthesubcommitteeofthecommitteeofthewhole of association professionals

Like the key baseball hitter and gritty race car driver, how about a clutch of association professionals?

A constellation of yapstars... :)

no? hmmm...

a hatstand...
a gaggle...
a cluster...
a network...
a hub...

Nope. Sorry. uninspired.

While I really like a synergy of association professionals, but SAP would not work. Don't the association professionals come from all kinds of professions which would make a mingle more appropriate and MAP is not too bad. Perhaps an Assemblying of Association Professionals or an Assortment of Association Professionals and either one of those would be AAP.

I had so much fun with this in Visual Thesaurus (check the cool tool out here: http://www.visualthesaurus.com) and came up with a few ideas based on the word "community"

compeer
linkup
hamlet
baronage
comrades
affiliates

(but I think a merger of Maddie's gaggle & network may be just right ... gagwork? netgle?)

Thanks for the fun!

Jamie: I love it!

Ann: I like this one--association folks do come through in the clutch ...

Maddie: If that's uninspired, I want to see you when you're inspired! (And "a constellation of yapstars" works really well for YAP. You should keep that idea!)

Kim: Eeek, I hadn't noticed the "SAP" acronym. We don't want to give the impression that association folks are sappy. (Admittedly, I cry during Folger's commercials. But all association professionals should not be tarred with my brush ...)

Peggy: Thanks for the link to the visual thesaurus! That's really neat.

Maybe we could play off of the word "gaggle" a bit more ... a gabble of association professionals?
