Friday Fun: Twitter Backchannel Gets Humming

Already, the Twitter backchannel is humming along. Just do a search on ASAE to see all the folks who are posting about the Annual Meeting. If you feel like being social, post an @reply to introduce yourself to folks you don't know.

Here's a fun visualization of the Twitter backchannel right now, thanks to Maddie Grant. (It also includes the ASAE & The Center Flickr stream, which isn't very active yet...but soon will be.)

I signed up for Twitter, trying to be all cool and hip. And then was inundated with text messages. I know that is how the system works, but it was too much. Lesson learned! I will only turn that feature on when I am in San Diego at the meeting.

I'm with you on that, Sarah. I'm lucky to be able to access Twitter through the web on my iPhone, so I don't use the text feature at all. Many of my friends turn the text feature on for only their closest Twitter pals, then check in on Twitter's mobile app for other folks.

It's all about user preference. It's good to understand the perks and drawbacks of all of these social spaces.
